The Most Accurate Bodpod Measuring in the Industry
Before booking your Bod Pod body fat test, please read the following carefully
There is no 100% accurate method of measuring body composition. (Technically there is, but it requires you to be dead which sort of defeats the purpose). However, if you understand how to minimize the factors that will negatively impact the Bod Pod’s precision you can maximize its accuracy and it can be an extremely useful tool for tracking changes in body composition.
How do I ensure the most accurate Bod Pod body fat test possible?
Before your first Bod Pod body fat test:
Do not exercise for at least 3 hours prior to your test
Do not eat for at least 3 hours prior to your test
Do not drink any liquids for at least 3 hours prior to your test
Avoid caffeine (coffee, energy drinks) and thermogenic supplements (fat burners) before your test
Use the bathroom before your test
If you shave your face, arms, legs, or any other exposed areas, we recommend you do so the day of your test
Do not apply and skin creams or lotions before your test
Wear spandex/lycra form-fitting clothing: shorts for men, shorts and a sports bra or a swimsuit for women (we will provide caps).
Ready to Start?
There are several things that you can do to ensure that your Bod Pod test results are as accurate as possible, and, if you choose to retest in the future, that your progress is accurately assessed by the Bod Pod.
Please be aware that if you do not follow all of these guidelines we cannot guarantee the accuracy of your test results.
Most people will find it easiest to test in the morning before breakfast, but if that doesn’t fit your schedule testing in the afternoon is perfectly fine as long as you follow the above recommendations
The best way to ensure accurate test results is to do as many things as possible the EXACT same as you did for your first test.
Retest at the same time of day under the same conditions (e.g., fasted, no caffeine, etc.)
Consider avoiding strenuous exercise the day before your test to ensure a consistent hydration status and body temperature
Shave whatever body parts you shaved the first time
Wear the exact same shorts/bra/swimsuit. If we provide them for you, we will be sure to give you the exact same ones.
Be aware that if you choose to workout, eat, or consume caffeine before your first test, doing the same workout, eating the same meal, or consuming the same source of caffeine can still negatively affect the accuracy of your results due to differences in hydration status and body temperature.
What other factors affect the accuracy of the Bod Pod body fat test?
There are some other factors that can influence the Bod Pod’s accuracy that we try to control for. Those include:
Ambient temperature – we try to keep the Bod Pod room at a constant temperature that is ideal for accurate results. If the temperature is too hot or too cold, we will recommend rescheduling your Bod Pod test for another day or you can wait until the temperature is regulated.
Humidity – Unfortunately, we cannot control the humidity in our building. Fortunately, the humidity in AZ is consistently low. If it changes drastically, however, we will recommend rescheduling your Bod Pod test for another day.
Calibration – We calibrate the Bod Pod every morning before tests are administered. If there is an error during calibration that could affect your results, we will recommend rescheduling your test.
If the Bod Pod isn’t exact why would I use it?
This is a very fair question. Ideally, we would be able to determine your exact body composition, but that’s just not possible. Every available resource for measuring and tracking changes in your weight, body fat, muscle mass, and even caloric expenditure is, to some degree, flawed. Instead of relying on one resource, we encourage you to utilize as many tools as possible to get the best overall assessment of how your body is changing and, more importantly, to ensure that you’re making consistent progress. The Bod Pod is simply one of those tools. We recommend that at the very least you track your body weight (scale), body composition (Bod Pod), circumference (tape measure at your neck, upper arm, chest/nipple line, upper abdomen, belly button, hips, thighs, and calves), and take biweekly/monthly progress pictures (don’t rely on the mirror).
BodPod is the world’s gold standard for fast, accurate and safe body composition assessment. We’ve been offering BodPod services for over a decade and created a signature protocol to achieve the most accurate results possible.

Dr. Thomas Incledon has personally get involved in testing over 1,000 people and has uncovered specific details on how to optimize the technology. We have standardized the environment to collect the most accurate data possible. Also, our equipment is routinely calibrated against the reference standards supplied by the manufacturer. We literally have engineers get tested in the bod pod at the corporate headquarters, then coming to our Bod Pod Scottsdale location to get tested and verify that the results are the same.
The BodPod’s Composition Tracking System is an air displacement plethysmograph which uses whole-body densitometry to determine body composition (fat and fat-free mass)
We optimize our BodPod measurements by routinely calibrating the scale for mass and the chamber for volume. This allows our BodPod to measure body mass using the most precise scale and volume, providing the most accurate body mass in the industry today.
