Paradise Valley Tidbits

Residents of this well-off town would always say to its visitors that there's a reason why we call this valley a "paradise." Paradise Valley may be small in size, but it is the richest suburb in Arizona. Smacked in the middle of Phoenix and Scottsdale, Paradise Valley gained the top spot in 2018.

The town of Paradise Valley is famous for its luxury resorts, expansive golf course, upscale restaurants, and high-priced real estate. According to the 2017 population estimate, there were around 14,293 residents. Despite being a small community, Paradise Valley boasts to have 8 all-inclusive resorts, which means there would be panoramic views, scenic golf courses, water parks, 5-star dining options, and other facilities for the entire family.

It's no wonder that Paradise Valley is considered as one of Arizona's leading vacation spots. However, historically, the town had humble beginnings. It started out as an ideal place for livestock grazing. The name "Paradise Valley" was given by the land developers of the Rio Verde Canal Company.

Paradise Valley should not be confused with another "Paradise Valley" in northeast Phoenix. The latter is a village that houses the Paradise Valley Community College, Paradise Valley High School, and other institutions under the Paradise Valley Unified School District. The residents of the town, not the village, are under the Scottsdale Unified School District.

Paradise Valley is located in Maricopa County, Arizona. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a land area of 15.41 square miles, and only 0.03 square miles of the total area is made of water. Paradise Valley is mainly surrounded by Mummy Mountain, Camelback Mountain, and the Piestewa Peak.

There are lots of noteworthy attractions and things to do in Paradise. Whether one prefers hiking adventures, championship golfing, shopping, or relaxing at the different luxurious spas, Paradise Valley offers something unique for everyone.

If you love the arts and culture, a must-see attraction is Cosanti. It is one of the historic sites that's uniquely found in Paradise Valley. The place is designed by Paolo Soleri, and it features earth-formed structures. To know more about Cosanti and its founder Paolo Soleri, visit 6433 E Doubletree Ranch Rd. There are bronze bells, ceramic wind bells, sculptures, and jewelries available if you are looking for a one-of-a-kind souvenir to bring home.

If golf is your favorite, don't miss the Mountain Shadows Golf Club. TripAdvisor named it as the "best of Paradise Valley." The Camelback Mountain and Mummy Mountain would each cast a shadow every afternoon. Thus, the resort was named Mountain Shadows. Head to 5445 E. Lincoln Drive, and experience the exquisite silhouettes and picturesque views.

If you want to stay away from chain resorts and hotels, you can do so by visiting the SmokeTree Resort & Bungalows. This 5-acre property has more than 20 private suites and fancy bungalows. Packed with modern amenities, the SmokeTree Resort and Bungalows is conveniently situated near Paradise Valley's borders. You can relax by the poolside, explore their lush gardens, rent a bike, or even hike! Since 1966, the Williams family manages the resort. Now, it is the oldest independent resort/hotel in the area.

It does NOT end there because you still have plenty of places to explore in Paradise Valley like the Hermosa Inn, El Chorro Restaurant, Sanctuary Resort, Elements Deck, and many more. So, be sure to come back to this little paradise in the heart of Arizona.
